SC Challenge Week: 6 am Workouts

 

Vivian and I are going to try another challenge this upcoming week: 6 am workouts every day next week. I need to pause and barf already because ugh, what the hell, Vivian. Anyway, in case you can’t tell, Vivian and I are going into this challenge with varying mindsets and attitudes. Namely, Vivian is upbeat and positive about the prospect and I am dreading opening my eyes and sweating first thing in the morning. The snooze button and I are very close, we see each other every morning and interact every 8 minutes for an hour or so during the hour I eventually get up during but drag out as long as possible.

Here are more of our individual thoughts on the experiment below:

Michelle: I have tried unsuccessfully to become a morning person many times in my life. Each time, I was as unsuccessful as the last time. So, things are not looking great this time around. However, I am cautiously optimistic that maybe having some sort of reason to wake up will give me the pep in my step to really start my day. Hey, look, I’m starting to sound like a morning person already.

I know at first, getting up early will be easy but I also know that I will become smug around Day 2 and stay up way too late and then hate myself the next morning.

Well, wish me luck.

Vivian: Morning workouts >>>>> workouts during any other time of the day in my opinion. Whenever I work out in the morning, I feel much more energized the rest of the day and much more productive. That being said, I haven’t gotten up for early morning workouts since college when my roomies and I would go to 6 a.m. spin (ew, who were we).

I’m trying to be optimistic and tricking myself into thinking that getting up for a workout two and a half hours before I would normally get up for a workout won’t make much of a difference but am slightly dreading it.

I’ve been setting my alarm for 6 a.m. (and snoozing till 6:45) to see what it will be like and can already tell the first day will actually be hell (sorry Michelle). But I’m anticipating it getting better throughout the week so we’ll see!

Overall expectations for next week:
